On the morning of November 10, several young people wearing red overalls were sweating around a replaced valve on the YT2-10H well site of the second production area of No. 1 Oil Production Plant of Northwest Oilfield.
"Monitor, I searched all over the warehouse, but I couldn't find the gate valve exactly the same type as this valve," said Wang Yanxun anxiously. "As I just saw, this gate valve with nominal diameter of 100 is produced by a company in Shanghai. In recent years, this company has not produced this type of valve. It is not very normal in the warehouse." Tian Fei, a clerk, once worked as a material manager, he said positively.
"This oil well is a high-yielding well and must not be delayed in our hands. It doesn't matter if there is no suitable valve, then through our efforts, we will find ways to'operate'to bring the valve with serious leakage back to life and work again. After listening to monitor Zhang Yunchang, everyone was excited.
Wang Yanxun found a clean cloth and spread it on the flat ground. Zhang Yunchang and Tianfei used wrenches, pipe pliers and other tools to remove all the valve accessories bit by bit. After cleaning, they put it on the cloth in order. After carefully observing the valve body and valve core, they quickly found the outlet pipeline of the oil well. The reason for the leakage inside the gate valve is that the spool is seriously corroded. Zhang Yunchang took out vernier calipers to compare and measure the valve core and the inner part of the valve body repeatedly. He thought it could be repaired by experience. He first sought professional cleaning agent to soak the valve core and remove rust. Then he carefully grinded the valve core with fine sandpaper. This is a technical work. The operator not only has to be patient, but also has to be careful in grinding the valve core. Skills, but also a sense of touch, a little inattention to exert great strength will damage the spool. Time passed by, and the once rusty spool slowly glowed with metallic shine, and finally the spool was repaired.
All of us made concerted efforts to re-install the valve after the operation. After several water tests, we found that the sealing effect was very good. Then we connected the valve to the outlet pipeline. After improving the process, we observed the pressure and flow changes. Finally, everything was normal, and the oil well resumed its happy singing.
